Sorry I took so long to reply. RL, and I want to check some things. My kids are 9 & 11, and there was even less when they were three than there is now. Other than what's been mentioned so far. The only things I can add that might interest a 3 year are from Johnny DC Superfriends. The comic is based on the toys available. From Marvel, there's Franklin Richards, the son of Reed and Sue of the Fantastic Four and is drawn in the style of Calvin & Hobbes. And if you want to keep going old school, Gemstone puts out the old Disney comics with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and Scrooge McDuck.

Thanks Kat Kan! I loved the Frances books when I was little, so I'll certainly look for Benny and Penny.

Toon Books just published 3 books in mid-April that Sandy might enjoy reading with 3-year-olds. Silly Lilly and the Four Seasons is the easiest of the 3, as young Lilly enjoys seasonal activities. Benny and Penny in Just Pretend looks more like a Frances book (remember Bread and Jam for Frances and other books in that series?) - Benny does not want to play with younger sister Penny. Otto's Orange Day has a more sophisticated vocabulary but I think can still be read aloud to younger kids; Otto finds a genie and wishes everything would be orange, his favorite color.

And Sandy might want to consider some of the collections of old comics such as Little Lulu, Casper the Friendly Ghost, and Richie Rich (all from Dark Horse). Little Lulu has been popular with younger readers in my school library. I loved all those old Harvey Comics when I was a little kid!

Do you have any recommendations for comics that are appropriate to read to 3 year olds? I'm particularly interested in comics that don't have much (or any) violence.

Comics Shop News recently recommended Tiny Titans as a "low-violence, problem-solving sort of storytelling" that I thought might be good. Do you have any experience with this title?

Thanks!
